Many teacher organizations have refused point blank to even discuss the issue, while others have grudgingly said they will ‘listen’ to proposals put forward. Email, in particular, has created an informal communications environment where the emphasis is on speed of thought. However, at the other end of the spectrum, the ecommerce website is a very formal environment where the user wants precise information. While there will be some severe growing pains in 2000, there is little doubt but that the Internet will further imbed itself as one of the central drivers of the new millennium. More
