The Web Content Style Guide excerpt:
Writing for the Web: Part 10

A final thought
People have been writing, editing and publishing for millennia. The best minds of human civilization have thought long and hard about the optimal techniques for communicating in print.

Much of that accumulated wisdom has held true as the technology of publishing has changed, from clay tablets to papyrus scrolls to bound books, newspapers and magazines, and to the World Wide Web today.

It’s silly to throw it all away, and many of the rules and suggestions in this book build directly on that knowledge. But at the same time, you must be ever-mindful of what is truly unique about the Web.

This book attempts to identify those differences, and present them in a format that can serve as a handy everyday reference for anyone who writes or edits content online.
